Ada...Chippewa to China

She is currently living and working, at a hotel in China.  She incidentally left Chippewa on August 23rd also...but flew out of MSP and we flew out of EC.  We had been emailing since before Christmas and finally worked out a day to get together.  So last Saturday, March 2nd, we met her at the Haizu Square Metro stop, where our fun adventure filled day began.

First she took us to an older part of town, which was having a one day street fair,
Yuexiu Temple Fair.

We enjoyed delicious oysters smothered in garlic, orange and egg custard, served in the orange and a few other Chinese favorites, fish balls and dumplings.

Then we hopped another metro and headed to Zhujiang New Town.  We spotted a cotton candy man and the kids scored another treat.  Then we noticed these red things that we have seen a ton of but hadn't had a chance to try yet.  Luke especially had been looking forward to it and as you can see looks a bit confused...turns out it is a bit like a candy covered apple.  We used the google translator and it said it was a crab apple or Hawthorne?  Either way it was delicious and we went back for seconds.

It was also still decorated for the Chinese New Year or Spring Festival, they celebrate by decorating with many flowers.

A shot of some dancing waters with the skyscrapers.

Mason in a daze from his Starbucks...

We finished our day enjoying some delicious Ice Cream, good ice cream is hard to find in China.  Ada treated us all.  We had a wonderful day with Ada and hope to meet up with her again soon.
